The Sell-Out Blacks Only is Coming to the Lyric Theatre

Blacks Only

After sold out shows at Carnival City and The State Theatre in Pretoria just a week ago, South Africa’s biggest comedy brand, Blacks Only will be back at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 16 & 17 November 2012, with a side-splitting line-up that includes comedy giant David Kau and same of the country’s hottest black comics. After the success of last year, another Dreaming of a Black Christmas is heading to the Lyric this November 2012. Blacks Only Comedy show, presented by Real Comedy has taken laughter all over the country for the past eight years –is selling out as always having already performed to over 20000 people this year already.

Kau will reprise his role as the MC. David Kau needs little introduction and his name is synonymous with many firsts. At the current age of 32, this Kroonstad-born comic began his career as the first black stand-up comedian in the 1998 Smirnoff Comedy Festival in Cape Town - the only black person on stage out of 44 comics. Of his material Kau says: “It isn’t all influenced by politics – instead it’s always about what’s current.”

Joining David Kau on stage is a string of the country's finest up and coming and top comedians, with the likes of David Kibuuka, Chris Mapane and Deep Fried Man.
