Johnny Clegg will be returning from an extensive sold out tour in America this May, to take his highly acclaimed Best, Live and Unplugged tour to the Eastern Cape.

21st May – The Venue @ Hemingways, East London
23 & 24 May – PE Opera House, Port Elizabeth
26 & 27 May – The White House Theatre, Plettenberg Bay
28 May – Fancourt, George

This very intimate show will include storytelling by Johnny Clegg, where he talks about the events in his life and political history of South Africa and the world at that time that motivated him to write that song. It is a personal journey, which is uplifting, moving and also humorous at times.

The tour is proudly brought to you by the Eastern Cape’s biggest radio station, Algoa FM.

Says Algoa FM Operations Director, Alfie Jay, "Johnny Clegg is so much more than just a great musician - he's an admired South African icon. Johnny's music has remained popular with our ever-changing audience who, like him, has evolved in this cruel, crazy beautiful world. Johnny returns from a 45 date USA tour for his Unplugged shows in Algoa country. We are proud to be associated with Johnny Clegg in Algoa Country and excited about this UNPLUGGED tour - this story – this musical journey!"

Do not miss out on this exclusive intimate event starting this May.

Special thanks to The Protea Hotel Marine in Port Elizabeth & The Plettenberg Hotel in Plett for sponsoring the accommodation for the shows taking place in Port Elizabeth and Plettenberg Bay.

Johnny Clegg has wowed audiences with his live shows, including performances with Nelson Mandela, and won a number of national and international awards for his music and for his outspoken views on apartheid and migrant workers in South Africa. He has released two dozen albums and has just released a new unplugged album from his sold out shows at The Baxter Theatre in September 2013, titled BEST, LIVE and UNPLUGGED.

Johnny Clegg is a dancer, anthropologist, singer, songwriter, academic and activist. Whilst all of these tags are fitting, none of them can accurately describe the energetic, passionate human being who has become one of South Africa's greatest musical exports. Clegg is an icon of South African music.

Recently awarded three honorary doctorates from Dartmouth College, CUNY and University of the Witwatersrand, on Freedom day, the 27th of April 2012, Johnny Clegg received the presidential IKHAMANGA award as part of the National Orders ceremony. The National Orders are the highest honour a citizen can receive for his/her contribution to South Africa.
