The Hurly Burly Show Live at Emperors Palace

Hurly Burly

It¹s been a smash-hit in London¹s West End and now The Hurly Burly Show arrives at Emperors Palace for a summer season of deliciously bawdy burlesque fun!
Boasting a bevy of beautiful burlesque stars, speciality variety acts and fabulous costumes, sets and music, The Hurly Burly Show is an all-singing, all-dancing revue with a saucy contemporary twist. Fusing fashion, music and popular culture this burlesque inspired musical spectacular features steamy covers and twisted mash ups from pop artists including Kylie, Britney, Prince, Beyonce, Madonna, Lady Gaga and many more.

The Hurly Burly Show was created by William Baker. A director of live music and shows as well as a photographer and stylist, he is perhaps best known for his creative work with Kylie Minogue. He has also worked as Creative Director to Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Westlife and, in 2007, he made his theatre directing debut directing a remixed version of the musical Rent in London¹s West End.

Baker has now focused his gold star standards on The Hurly Burly Show with original direction, sumptuous set design and gorgeous couture costumes the high end production values that London¹s West End is famed for and that can now be seen for the very first time in South Africa.

Musical direction is by Steve Anderson who is also renowned for his extensive work with Kylie Minogue, Westlife, Leona Lewis and Rent. He has produced, written andremixed songs for Take That, Britney Spears, The Petshop Boys, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney amongst many others.

The show stars Miss Polly Rae, one of the leading figures on the London burlesque scene. Miss Rae takes her creative inspiration from iconic Œ40s and Œ50s pin-ups such as Bettie Page, Tempest Storm and Marilyn Monroe as well as modern artists such as Madonna. From its origins in the Soho Revue Bar back in 2006, The Hurly Burly Show has now had three successful seasons in London¹s West End, most recently summer 2012 at the Duchess Theatre.

The UK press on The Hurly Burly Show:

GLAMOROUS, DIVINELY DECADENT ENTERTAINMENT. Miss Polly Rae presides over the most wholesome and appealing burlesque show I have ever encountered¹ Daily Telegraph

Whether as a nun sashaying to It¹s a Sin or writhing in a negligee to a slow, sensual version of Michael Jackson¹s Bad, Rae displays a sense of humour every bit as naughty as the gradual removing of clothing.¹ The Stage

The contours are amazing, as are some of the contortions. A dancer¹s slow, near-naked splits makes one¹s eyes water like lychees. The high kicking seems double-hinged. The Hurly Burly Show is artistic rather than lewd.¹ Daily Mail

Polly is a phenomenal performer, let¹s just say I am feeling a little hot under the collar!¹ Kylie Minogue
